Have you actually been praying more? What would happen if you did, or not?

Prayer IS the battle! We all want to see this empowering church grow...I pray that the evil stratagems devised by our adversaries be dissapated to inert attempts and that God cups his hand over our congregation in protection.

Although it was a passionate answer, it was not a very stimulating answer! How about this...Can we pray to just the holy spirit? Can we say thanks to our guardian angels?

My thoughts on your post:

Yes, we can pray just to the Holy Spirit.  He is God: Father, Son & Holy Spirit; three-in-one.  They don’t feel jealous as we may when we’re not the one picked.  On the other hand, Jesus did say in Matthew 6 that when we pray we should say, “Our father...”

Yes, we can say thanks.  However, angels are just servants and we should not pray to or worship them; it would be like praying to another human.  I believe their motivation is out of love for God and obedience to His wishes.  Thus, thanking God for our guardian angel(s) is probably more what they would expect us to do.

God bless!

This church is being pounded on, in my perception, by the ongoing spiritual war. The eyes that read this entry are some which are connected to a brain capable of making a connection to God. Please pray a prayer for God to make an armored cup with his hand to protect our church. We will be able to do what we are on earth for if we are protected, sharing the message. Say this prayer now, if you feel.

LORD God my loving Father.

Please unify this church.
Please Help us follow what it is you have planned for us.
Please guide us to us pray whenever we feel you call.
Please cup your hand over your church in protection.
Please speak through us at all times.
Please help us to Love you more God

Amen

I hope this is not the last prayer you say today about 24-seven. I will pray right now that you will pray, even about anything at all.

People love to put the lords prayer into stuff…

A Penny

a shell

Cuff links

And lots of other stuff...Interesting to note. the final piece “for thine is the kingdom and the power and he glory forever...Amen” is not even in the bible. So really it is supposed to end “deliver us from the evil one”

Although if your praying, you can say whatever you want. Also, in my opinion, putting it on shells and stuff somehow makes it less sacred.

When I was a kid, my family got there three GIANT fishtanks, when we would get new fish to put in them I would watch them for like the next five days, some were really pretty! In fact, one time we got a whole batch of “Neon Tetra’s”
Neon tetra.jpg
My sister Erin and I snuck down the stairs that night and got blankets and stole a bunch of tater tots and ketchup from the fridge. Then we sat in front of the tank and watched them for probably a couple of hours.
After a few days we got used to them, and no longer cared about them unless we had company over, then we all looked at them for a little bit.

So it may be novel to plaster the Lords Prayer all over, but it is really something that can be much more than common. It can be absorbed, digested, it can put us in a different mood, especially if we really think about what were saying when we go over it. I often change the words. Say things with completly different diction, but I keep the basic one as my model. All of its parts and meanings go into the new one.

I would love to see us launch a prayer movement @ 24-Seven.  If God is convicting you to help us towards that end, please let us know.

Prayers ascend…

When one enters a room with others in an atmosphere designed for reverence and prayer. He notices something, the people are not alone, they are in fact surrounded by a spiritual messenger. The holy spirit in a company of praying humans is a powerfull phenomena, I think there would be a many who need to be part of something so amazing. Do you think (pastors) that people need to be in the same room to be part of our prayer team? Or can we recruit people from across the country with the gift of intercession? Or the world, can 24-seven have a global prayer team in addition to our own prayer community?

Heres how it would work. Once a week an email goes out to the prayer team. With all the stuff people want to pray for. We all pray for everything on the list. the youth movement, 24-seven, pastoral strenght and, congregational motivation, all would always be on the list. Sometimes we will all come together as a prayer team and pray randomly bouncing around the circle. Once a year, we will have prayer life strenghtening retreats, and prayer marathons where we pray 24-seven for a whole week. I am also interested in putting effort into an EXTREME prayer retreat. This is for serious prayers (anyone committed) we will be in a candle lit arena, and use our prayer to worship. I dont see why we would not first have a foot washing ceremony and communion and 24 hours of fasting from food and speach leading up to the event. Yes its extreme, thats why Im excited about it, besides GOD is pretty extreme too...it would be my intention that we would all feel the brush of angels wings and that the event would put us into an embrace with GOD.

Steve, Matthew or Jesse

Here’s an idea. In our bulletins we could add a prayer/praise request. From there I have a few ideas:

1) On the same bulletin we could put a box that people could check mark if they are interested in being prayer warriors.

2) Start an excel spreadsheet with the prayer requests.

3) Send out an e-mail to those who would like to be the prayer warriors.

Let me know if this works at all.

Blessings and Joy,
Lisa

Lisa What a neat idea! And what do you think of the extreme prayer sessions? We could call it “war zone” or just “war”

I love the idea of extreme prayer sessions. Depending of course on seattle weather we could always do it outside or inside at bcc. I recall someone (not sure who) said that prayer is like going to war with satan. So therefore we could call it a “War Zone” or Power Prayer or whatever.

Let me know what you think. Have an awesome night!

I think people would get more excited about it if one of us went up and described it. Maybe we can have a trailer, like a movie trailer.

Lisa, your level of enrollment in the idea is inspiring, tell me, what are some things you think we should pray for? I have started a new thread all about prayer requests in 24-seven talk. I think that everything people post there we should start praying for, lets start this today! Why wait for an official club, Jesus never did that (wait for a club) There won be too many to begin with but I think thats an awesome way to keep track of all the things we pary for. Still lets keep dialoguing in here about a real team though.

I think god inspires all of in various ways. Things we should pray for:

1) That thru our outreach we continue bringing people closer to god.
2) That we grow stronger in our faith (Having Ty Gibson here last week helped me in ways I cannot describe)
3) That the uw 24/7 adventis group is an overwhelming success. Last week we had a lot of uw students here, I have been praying that we will see them this saturday.

How’s that?
