What kind of living have we all come from that now...we find so much less satisfying? I personally have come from an interest in demonic influences, in high school. As well, during my flight from God I was taken by a huge temptation to constantly lie. I was and am still fighting off pathalogical lying. I no longer am tempted by dark spirituality but lying still has a notch in my personality. I realized comming closer to God that people probably like me for who i am, and I dont need to impress them with stories about going to scotland, designing artwork for magazines, or anything like that. I don’t curse so much anymore but I have had recent problems with it. All I do is pray, when I pray, for God to put a verbal dam up in my throat so they don’t come out. One thing is for sure, the closer I get to God the easier t is to avoid sinning. Only thing that sucks is IM A HUMAN...I drift from God, I dont want to but I do, then sometimes sin is a wake up call for me.

Hi everybody!
What did you think Steve, what about the title? /like a big C = Christian?/ What shell I write about?
I think the christians’ life is worth if they do a lot for other people, didn’t they? Personally: I try to help some people (give clothes, teach...).
Jesse: thank you for your testemony!

Aspect,
Im pretty sure “Big C” meant Christ...living like a christian can be pretty detrimental really. The reason so many people hate christians is because so many christians DO NOT live like Christ. For example...Christ would not condemn someone for how they live. He wouldnt say “your going to hell, cuz you live with your boyfriend” Jesus would love that person, make friends with them and help them grow in their connection to GOD. If we did that...christians wouldnot be so frequently seen as hypocrites, or as judgemental. Changes in our lives like that only come from WANTING to serve GOD, you can only WANT to serve him if you 1 fear him and think he will smite you if you dont obey… or 2 LOVE him. I beleive that if we fear GOD then we aren’t understanding who he really is (Almost everyone I speak with dosent understand that GOD IS A NICE GUY!). So we as christians should aim ourselves at loving, and having friendships. When people see our love it is then that they are going to witness how Christ would like us to behave...which is how he DID behave.

By the way...if anyone reads this and dosent understand something I said or has ANY other questions please post them! The pastors and other members (I think) love answering questions.

thanks for your testimonies and insights Jesse

I could be wrong but I think to fear God could be roughly translated into today’s language as Respect God. I feared my earthly father and still fight a battle to love him.

I respect my heavenly Father but to be honest I have a healthy fear of what he is. He see’s into the dark places in my heart and light’s them up with His Love. I know if I try to turn my back on Him and and deny His love/light I have a real tangible reason to fear Him. Thankfully His unlimited grace has taught me the real fear is to not have him near.

Sure we can fear GOD...as in respect him. But what I meant was that many think HE is the one responsible for rape, murder, suicide, pornography addiciton etc. God hates that stuff more than we do though. WHY DOES IT HAPPEN? Because if he prevented it from happening then we would not have the choice to do it, and if God takes away free choice in that, really it limits how sinfull we can be...if we are limited in that then he is not really letting us decide how close to him and how much like him we want to be. That wouldnot be love. For me to really love God it has to be completly my choice. He wants us to love him completly, so he has to take the risk that we wont love him at all.

People who think God is responsible...not Satan, for our calamities beleive that we have a malicious God, or one that punishes us on a daily basis, rather than all at once after earths existance as we know it has passed. I agree that comming close to God will eliminate our fear. And we won’t be afraid when he comes to earth to bring us to heaven. People who do not know God, often fear him even during normal life here on earth, and when he comes again will be terrified, because they will know that they never tried to know God, and will naturally feel guilty and afraid. If I were in their shoes I would be afraid of God, like the terrified kind of fear. But as we live here on earth with the choice to try and know him or not. There is nothing to fear (respect yes) but comming close to him (as you said) can only bring us confidence in where our lives are going and an understanding of things yet to come. Also being close to God, though our friends may not understand, can cause us to feel joy and tranquility in such a violent world. This is something I have SO experienced, I am a logical fellow and I have a hard time explainind away the changes in my addicted sin ridden life. I have to give the credit to GOD.

Sorry I had such an extraneously detailed post, it just came out, there must be someone who needs to read it.

Jesse
I just finished reading Ty Gibson’s book “Shades of Grace”. (fantastic) In chapter 15 he presents the word ‘Theodicy’, a defense of God’s goodness and omnipotence in view of the exsistence of evil.

“How could God be both good and powerful and then watch a man rape a women or a child slowly starve to death? It seems He is either good and lacking in power or powerful but lacking in goodness. Hence, theodicy.”

I would appriciate any thoughts and/or insights you (or anyone) might have on this subject.

In a nutshell this is the battle I find myself in when I defend the charecter of Jesus against an angry world.
