What keeps us from achieving our fullest potential?

Sometimes we have doubts that we could achieve what God has intended for us to achieve? Why is that ?

We all have doubts about so many things - it’s human. We doubt that we can achieve “all things through Christ who strengthens me” because our faith is under constant attack. Remember, if we had faith just the size of an itty bitty mustard seed we could move mountains.

So, are we all losers because our faith is so weak? No, thank God - literally. A man asked Jesus if He was able to heal his son. Jesus asked if he had faith that He could do it. This man’s reply was perfect, “Yes, and please strengthen my faith where it is lacking.” He knew that even the source of faith in God was from God. Wow, we ask God for what it takes to believe in Him. We truly are fully dependant on His grace.

How do we build faith? Here’s a few ways I’ve found helpful:
1) Ask God for it
2) Decide to obey. Start with one area a day or a week and ask God to give you the resolve & strength to follow His will.
3) Think on how God has already touched your life
4) Share with others how God has touched your life
5) Start serving at church, in the community & in your sphere of influence
6) Work with someone/a team to do something Spirit inspired & God-sized
7) Find someone who will lovingly but firmly help you stay accountable
8) Celebrate every success

I’m sure you can think of others. Don’t try these all at once if this isn’t where you’re at on your spiritual journey yet.

As your faith grows, so will your confidence that you can do what God has called you to do.

God bless!

Yes, I too wanted to hear this.

Why don’t we already know exactly what we need to do to improve our faith?

And What comes to those who do have it? What is the lifestyle of the last day’s Christian who goes to heaven and never experiences death?

Nice pic Jesse - I’m thinking GQ cover.

Jesse asked: “Why don’t we already know exactly what we need to do to improve our faith?”

My thoughts: Because we’re not perfect and it is part of the growth process.  Imagine if a baby were somehow shown (and could understand) everything that was going to be expected of him as an adult.  It would be totally overwhelming.  God is a “lamp unto my feet” & a “light unto my path”; He is showing us just what’s ahead.  He knows if we were to see the actual end He wants for us we would be so discouraged because the journey would seem incredibly difficult and long at the level of spiritual growth we are at today.  We know we are trusting in God when we die daily to selfish will, let tomorrow’s worries be handled tomorrow, and are content let God lead us to an often unknown destination.  (I wish I were there - but then again, at least I know God is leading me there if I let Him).

Jesse asked: “And What comes to those who do have it? What is the lifestyle of the last day’s Christian who goes to heaven and never experiences death?”

My thoughts: Those in the last days, latter rain period, will act and react very similarly to those in the early rain period - Acts through Revelation has numerous examples.  However, there were powerful women & men of faith in all times.  Our lifestyle should always reflect Jesus to the world.
