In Leviticus 23 Seven Holy times are mapped out into the year. The way they are to be celebrated, and when, are laid out in good detail.
The weekly Sabbath day of rest. It existed before these feasts were instituted, and after they were blotted out, unchanged. It is mentioned in Leviticus 23:3
1. Passover (The Lords Supper or Communion) Leviticus 23:4
2. Feast of Unleavened Bread Leviticus 23:6-8
3. Feast of First Fruits Leviticus 23:10-14
4. Feast of Weeks (Pentecost, or Feast of Harvest) Leviticus 23:15-22
5. The Feast of Trumpets Leviticus 23:23-25
6. The Day of Atonement Leviticus 23:26-32
7. Feast of Booths (Feast of Tabernacles also Feast of Ingathering) Leviticus 23:33-43
This thread is a place I will be posting my personal studies on each feast and how it foreshadows the life and times of Jesus and the early church, and maybe the present and future church, according to the little research I have done so far.
Colossians 2:16,17
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
My aim here is to investigate these feasts to really understand how they relate to Christ. Clearly the laws and customs written by Moses were not always properly understood, and it is clear that with the Holy Spirit we can benefit by understanding them.
2 Corinthians 3:14-18
But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
