It Is Finished
I am posting this from the comforts of our new home in Hamden, CT. Last night I got in having traveled for roughly 28 hours straight. I had noticed a sore throat, but assumed that it was because I was tired, but woke this morning to a full-fledge cold. I hate being sick, but I will get over it!
On the last day of the CONNECTION Week of Spiritual Emphasis the message It Is Finished was preached. We took a look at Jesus’ standard of righteousness that He would like each one of us to obtain in our lives. In Matthew 5 Jesus sets the bar quite high as He tells us that “unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees you will by no means enter the kingdom of Heaven.” After walking through what it looks like for us to be living the kingdom lifestyle, we find this passage in Matthew 6:33 which tells us that we need to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” You see, Jesus has finished the work. As He hung on the cross, right before He breathed His last, He cried out, “It is finished.” Because He lived the sinless life we are simply invited to look to Him and His righteousness. We are told that our righteousness is as filthy rags, but if we learn to seek His righteousness by beholding Him we will become changed.
It is my hope for those of you who attended this past week at the Parramatta Church found an invitation to behold Him.
Courage to you all.

Hey Matty
Thank you for helping me see once again that I need to keep my eyes on Jesus. And to stop looking at my “filthy rags”
It was great to see you again. Would have loved to catch a bit more.
Blessings
